I am concluding a PhD in Philosophy at the University of Coimbra and hold an MA and a BA in Philosophy from the University of Porto.
I am a collaborating member of the Institute of Philosophical Studies at the University of Coimbra, and an Associate Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics.
My research is grounded in Jacques Derrida’s Deconstruction and focuses on subjectivity, animality, sacrifice, hospitality and compassionate responsibility.
My research is grounded in Jacques Derrida's Deconstruction and focuses on the deconstruction of carnophallogocentrism.
During my doctoral studies (2021–2026), I examined the metaphysical foundations of the Western philosophical tradition, interrogating the ontological and sacrificial structure of subjectivity. This research sought to rethink subjectivity through the notion of the subject-to-come: a subject constituted by unconditional responsibility toward absolute alterity and, consequently, toward other animals.
My work has appeared in journals such as Between the Species, Journal of Animal Ethics, and Environmental Philosophy. A complete list is available under Publications.
I am currently developing a postdoctoral research project that extends my doctoral work by exploring coexistence and community between humans, animals, and the environment.
